Shake, Rattle and Roll...

Hello...With Autumn at our doorstep...allow me to introduce you to a charming couple who reside here in Funtown. Meet Hambone and Boney Maroney...they compete in Ballroom Dancing Contests and they have many trophies. He prefers the Tango as he has a dramatic flair...Miss Boney likes the Fox Trot as she is developing creaky joints.

They pack their dancing shoes and travel up and down the East Coast. We are so proud of our famous couple. No, they are not married...not yet, anyway...but, there are rumors.

During the evening hours, Boney Maroney relaxes by knitting and watching old black and white movies...the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers' films are her favorite. She secretly believes that she is much more graceful than "that Ginger Rodgers!" She is knitting yet another scarf for Hambone as he has poor circulation and is always chilly. He has confided in me that he longs for a colorful argyle scarf...but alas...Boney Maroney is color blind and has trouble following directions.

Here is Hambone practicing bobbing for apples for our Harvest Moon Fall Festival. He has been the Apple-Bobbing Champion for three years running. He is very competitive and enjoys posing for the snapshooter during the trophy presentation ceremony. Fortunately he doesn't boast too much...as a dose of humility is a good thing here in FunTown.

We can hear the music daily as we stroll by Boney Maroney's home...we smile knowing that the duo is inside twirling, kicking and dipping. This is why they are Champions.

This is their 8x10 glossy that they had made for the contests...but Boney is hoping that it will be their engagement photo for the newspaper. She dreams of this moment while knitting.

A Stroll Down Silly Street

California Here We Come...

Hello...Oh my goodness...it has been so long since I wrote here. I have been busy and lazy all at the same time. Anyway...enough excuses. Above are a happy little group of "Funnies" who have gone to California...Roger's Garden's in Corona Del Mar to be exact. There they will be my little ambassadors representing FunTown for me. Suffice it to say...they are over the moon to be in such hallowed surroundings as this is a very famous place to be.

"Chicky-Boo" of course was so excited to put her little webbed toes into the Pacific Ocean....as this is what her dreams are made of...crashing waves, handsome lifeguards and bright sunshine. Before she left I packed several giant sized bottles of sunscreen in her tote bag as she sunburns easily.

"Hoopy-Pooch" was also pleased as the weather is so pleasant in California...this allows her to practice her Hula-Hooping all day long. She is a two-time winner of the Hula-Hoop Challenge and she wants to continue and set a record one day. She was a tad nervous before she departed...as she was carrying her hula-hoop on board the plane and it can be so troublesome to fit items in the overhead compartments. I told her to be charming to the flight attendants and they will take good care of her.

This is "Lady Berry-Bug." When she was told that they were going to a Garden Shop she was overjoyed. She has dreams of all of the flowers and the fauna and with that comes some interesting bugs. There is much excitement as she will be there at the height of the strawberry season.

"Berry Bun-Bun" will be right by "Lady Berry-Bug's" side as they are the best of friends. Their love of sweet red strawberries makes the them a happy two-some. Miss Berry loves to hop around in the garden...but after a rambunctious romp she loves to luxuriate atop a magical strawberry throne...so we promised that she could take that with her. Uh-oh...there might be some arm wrestling between her and "Hoopy-Pooch" over those darned overhead bins. I am sure that they will behave...after all they do come from "FunTown" and manners are important.

And last but not least "Sally Sunshine" pleaded with me to join the travelers... shining in sunny California is a dream come true for all of sunbeams, as we have heard that many who live there are sun-worshippers. She is yearning for all of the attention she hopes to get.

Well...off I go as I have much to do. For those of you who live in Southern California or if you should happen to be vacationing nearby...please stop in and visit them...My book "Welcome to FunTown" will also be there. I am very honored to be included as I think that Roger's Gardens is awesome.

Vacation Plans...

Hello...Oh my...Whilst looking at my calendar I see that it is May...Just days away from summer...Summertime means bikinis...A scary notion these days.

Summer also means planning vacations...Going to the sea-side is always on the schedule. Saltwater Taffy is a necessity for all of us in FunTown. It is also important to use a quick mode of transportation as there is much traffic en route.

Fun friends should be included...It is a good thing to surround yourself with happy revelers.

Carpooling is wise...All of us in FunTown are responsible conservationists.

Traveling by rail is convenient...Sometimes you meet new traveling companions.

My goodness...We will have to rent a large beach house as our numbers are increasing. This is also a good thing as there will be many dancing partners at our parties.

I am longing for ocean breezes, long walks along the sand, the sound of flip-flops, sand castles, frosty pink lemonade, relaxing on a colorful beach towel...Oh I could ramble on forever as I dream about summer. I need to mention that my favorite thing is going to the ice cream stand...MMmm...Ice cream always tastes better when you have sand between your toes.

There is no Business Like Show Business

Hello...After returning from Sanford, FL where I participated in Earth Angel's Art Show at Jeanine Taylor's Folk Art Gallery I thought I would share with you what my table looks like. I was fortunate enough to have this wonderful cooler to display on. Many of you have never seen me at a show so I will share these snapshots with you.

I previewed my book Welcome to FunTown in Japan but this was my first outing here in the states. I met so many charming people that enjoyed my book. I do so enjoy sharing my story and I am very proud of this book. Ten years in the making...seeing my dream come true.

This is my display this past fall at the Country Living Show under the Earth Angels Tent...I love exhibiting at shows. The people that attend are looking for an adventurous day, they appreciate handmade pieces and they are just happy people.

Here I am in Costa Mesa, CA exhibiting with my friends at the "Gathering of Friends Show"...as you can see I love bright colors...

My StoryBook...Part Two...

Hello...Before I share more of the story I would like to share some of my musings about our adventure in FunTown. I don't know about you but...I think that an adventure begins with...A buying trip to purchase some new fashion ensembles...after all...there will be many snapshots of me and my traveling companions...We all want to look our best. Next is the packing of our suitcase...so much planning...the right shoes, the evening wear, the casual sportswear and let's not forget the bikini should you be going the seaside. The excitement builds as you set your alarm for your departure.

 I believe that a true adventure begins when you cross a body of water...it suggests that you are going somewhere far away and exotic.

An international journey requires a currency exchange...How fun is it to have a pocket-full of foreign currency. In FunTown they use Tiddly Winks for money...Very clever of them...this way if you want to play a game with a new friend...you can.

Oh...Your lodging is integral to the success of your trip. Tasty food, a comfortable bed, scenic views and let's not forget the little shampoo bottles. Party favors are good.

The cuisine at your destination is always so tasty. It is so fun to go to the famous eateries that are suggested in the travel brochures...as we often tire of the hum-drum  restaurants in our hometowns.

These thoughts are what I had in mind when I imagined Ginny McFinny's visit to FunTown. My first international vacation was in Paris. The excitement of the new country stamps in my shiny new passport. the Euros in my new handbag, the pastries, the fancy meals, the touristy snapshots, the glasses of French red wine served at sidewalk cafes and most important...the warm memories that I will cherish forever. This is what I wanted Ginny to experience. I hope that you enjoy her warm memories also.

Once Upon a Time...

Hello...I realize that over  the last few months I have shared photos from my storybook...but I haven't shared the story with you. If you want to visit the shop...click here...

Let us begin at the beginning,

Allow me to introduce you to Ginny McFinny and her trusty little sidekick, "Pip-Squeak." The story begins when she discovers that the Goody-Goody Gumdrop Candy Company advertised that they were sponsoring a candy-selling contest with the Grand Prize being an all-expense paid trip to FunTown, a place that Ginny had dreamed of all of her life.

So she and Pip-Squeak went door to door in her hometown selling the tasty Goody-Goody Gumdrops...she was very successful as she is charming and quite determined to win.

Hip-Hip Hooray! She was the winner. A lovely little fellow named Hoppy-Go-Lucky escorted her on her journey.

Hoppy was a charming tour guide...I got to make friends with all of the fine citizens of FunTown.
